Furey's
Bridge Street, Sligo
A fire in the grate. A pint on the bar. Music in the air. Open since 1969.
Live Sessions
Thursdays are session night. Guitars, banjos, bodhrans. Saturdays the bands play. No cover. No tickets. Just show up.
The Fire
Real turf fire in the snug. Winter nights, a Guinness on the ledge, heat on your face. That's what this is.
Vinyl Fridays
Turn It On crew bring the records every Friday. Different selector, different genre. Soul, funk, rock, reggae. Whatever lands on the platter.
Since 1969
There's a fire burning in Furey's most nights. Not a big one. Just enough to warm the snug and light up the dark wood around it. That's the kind of place this is.
Jimmy runs the bar. His family have been here since 1969, pouring pints and keeping the door open on Bridge Street. The Guinness is poured slow and served right. The music starts when it starts. There's no schedule for the craic.
Furey's isn't trying to be anything. No screens showing the match. No cocktail menu. No pretence. Just good pints, real music, and the kind of night where you walk in for one and leave at closing.
Thursdays there's a session. Fridays the Turn It On crew bring the vinyl. Saturdays it fills up and stays full. And every night, the fire burns.
“Best pub in Sligo by a mile.”
